Art & Design Program Highlights
The Whitworth University art department’s mission is to provide students who are enrolled in art courses with a rigorous intellectual environment in which students may gain knowledge and skills that will enable their creative progress in the visual arts, graphic design and art history. Faculty members in the Whitworth University Art Department are committed to excellent teaching, professional art research and practice, and service. Art core courses provide a solid foundation in artistic form and content. Upper-division offerings expand each student’s personal artistic vision and the conceptual foundation for the content of their work. All courses encourage the development of a lifelong passion for making and appreciating art. The program presents a number of options for the integration of a Christian worldview, and all students are encouraged to investigate the relationship between their worldview and their work.
