Maker to Maker – Calligraphy
July 9 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pmFREE
Maker-to-Maker is designed as an intimate group of CIVA members virtually gathering to share their work, receive constructive feedback and discuss their discipline. Each session is moderated by a professional in their medium. Sessions are FREE and open to current CIVA members but are limited to 8 participants per session. Participants should come ready to dig deep and can expect to explore struggles and bonds with their fellow Christian artists.
Each session is structured as follows:
- Moderator Introduction
- Participant Introductions
- Sharing of 2 pieces with constructive feedback
- Q&A and Conversation with Moderator
Today’s calligraphy ranges from highly legible traditional letterforms to those
which have their basis in those same letters, but favor expression over legibility.
While appreciating both approaches, I am most interested in finding a balance
between legibility and expression. These word pictures use letter style, color,
letter path, and layering to express the meaning of a text. This visualizing process
has also become a powerful way for me to meditate on great words, especially
from the Bible
